Core workshops are perfect for first-time attendees or for those who want to strengthen their knowledge about the principles behind shaping livable communities. These introductory – but in-depth – sessions provide an overview of how transit can be a catalyst for creating more livable communities. 

Going Green: Opportunities for a Sustainable Future
These workshops examine new and emerging issues – such as climate change, global warming and energy – as they relate to transit projects, transit-oriented development, and strategies for building sustainable communities.  Also hear about the next federal transportation bill, which is being developed at a time when record-high gas prices are affecting transportation and the economy on a local, regional and national scale.

Transit-Oriented Development (TOD)
These workshops provide a comprehensive look at the foundation of building livable communities – transit-oriented development. Engage in discussions about how public and private partners are taking TOD to the next level and are addressing innovative, effective ways to weave station communities into the fabric of every successful community.

Talk with deal-makers and learn how great-looking plans can become reality in this forum for developers, investors, transit agencies, cities and property owners

Do you ever wonder why great looking plans sometimes never get built? Shaping any development vision must have a reality check – developers and investors should be involved from the beginning to help shape the vision.  

Rail~Volution’s popular annual TOD Marketplace does just that. Once again we have created a forum where developers, investors, transit agencies, cities and property owners can meet and greet, talk about the art of the deal, or strike up an actual deal. The Marketplace will begin with an expert panel of national developers and investors critiquing three real-world development visions.  Next, Marketplace attendees can meet with the expert panelists one-on-one to gain insight about how deals are created. Breakout table discussion topics will include: pre-development funding challenges, equity financing sources, public financing, navigating the entitlement process, and strategies to preserve affordability.  Finally, throughout the Marketplace, Bay Area development opportunities will be set up for consideration by developers.
